Medieval ridge and furrow
The ridge and furrow covers much of the park. Look at Google Earth and you will see ridges running north to south. The farmers divided the land into narrow strips, and ploughed down one side then up the other. Over time the soil was pushed towards the middle of the strip. You can see it best when the sun is low, creating shadows as in this picture.
